Yes, yes it has. It's been even longer since I put brush to model. Bummer.
Settling into my new digs, a new social situation and, more importantly, my new job has been a bit more time consuming than I could have guessed. Great for me in a personal sense overall, but my hobbies and my blogging have taken a Unknownnoreply@blogger.com20tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-998094140795687094.post-18871252977024541762012-07-28T22:28:00.002-04:002012-07-28T22:29:32.543-04:00Moving the Hobby Cave - Update #16All that's left between me and completion is getting the terrain boards ready to go. This was actually pretty fun, so it was a much better way to end it all then trying to clean a 5 year old stain off the wall.
Mixed in with the boards were all my extra materials. It's all pretty thin and would cost a fair bit of money to replace so they're going in the truck along with all the rest Unknownnoreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-998094140795687094.post-63229089936112358392012-07-28T15:44:00.001-04:002012-07-28T15:44:30.769-04:00Moving the Hobby Cave - Update #15I got back from the dumpser and got back to the hobby cave. After a touch of vacuum maintenance, though.
First order of business was to get at all the little bits and such that had collected over the years. Mostly it was toothpicks, paperclip bits and some tape. Again, I'm not too sure the carpet can be saved, but I don't want anybody getting stabbed by all the Unknownnoreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-998094140795687094.post-26465797551714145232012-07-28T14:04:00.000-04:002012-07-28T14:04:06.563-04:00Moving the Hobby Cave - Update #14Well, the fun and interesting part is pretty much over (though there is one little bit of fun to be had) and I'm staring the worst aspect of this venture straight in the face. And by that I mean the cleaning. Blech.
The folding table is first up and mercifully easy.
Followed by the rug thing I put down to try and collect some of the hobby dirt. Included in that was another plastic tub for my Sabol case.
I just wasn't convinced a soft case was gonna be okay in the moving truck - even in a cardboard box. The Tydirium shuttle got broken apart and stuff in next to it - not a bad thing since I was only keeping it around for parts Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-998094140795687094.post-76469202892884094042012-07-27T19:26:00.000-04:002012-07-27T19:26:07.924-04:00Moving the Hobby Cave - Update #12A quick trip to the bank and a longer trip to Louis' Lunch later and I'm back at it. Or was back at it. The next leg of my packing course was a bit more long and grueling than things had been so far.
I started out by painting lamps in my other little tote/shelf. Remembering to take the light bulbs out!
And then wrapping it all with the plastic wrap. The pile's getting Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-998094140795687094.post-22899658899830831532012-07-27T14:51:00.001-04:002012-07-27T14:51:27.250-04:00Moving the Hobby Cave - Update #11It's been a busy Friday so far, and I'm pretty much down to the furniture. Though I keep forgetting about mt meager terrain collection in another closet.
Anyway, I got into the zone and some of my pictures aren't as interesting as I'd like.
After a quick trip to the U-Haul store, I had some giant plastic wrap to seal up some hobby tubs. It went pretty well. I guess I'll know for Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-998094140795687094.post-65867462044000276692012-07-26T23:02:00.003-04:002012-07-26T23:02:52.470-04:00Moving the Hobby Cave - Update #10Another few hours of packing and things are still rockin' and a rollin'. I'm in the homestretch with this update so things are looking good to be done by this Saturday.
The rest of my paint went into boxes, bringing me to a total of 8. Yikes.
I then moved onto another full box of this that and the other thing. I forgot to take a picture before I tapped it so you can't see Unknownnoreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-998094140795687094.post-42010289368507238582012-07-26T10:30:00.000-04:002012-07-26T15:20:15.102-04:00Moving the Hobby Cave - Update #9I actually got what follows accomplished last night but I ran out of time/juice to do the blogging bit.
Now I'm finally on to the most painstaking part of this packing challenge - my vast paint collection.
A bunch of old shoe boxes are the weapon of choice here. The idea being that I can't just dump a few hundred paint pots into a moving box and call it good. I also managed to keep Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-998094140795687094.post-14383972866883946102012-07-25T01:03:00.000-04:002012-07-25T01:03:07.679-04:00Moving the Hobby Cave - Update #8It just dawned on me today that I'll be loading the truck in two weeks. Yikes!
Still a lot to do, but I think the hobby cave will be a done deal in by the end of my weekend. Not too shabby considering how daunting things looked at first.
Solid progress today, starting with me getting my beloved plastic sprues into an acceptable small box and then all my terrain doo-dads in another. Most of the progress I got done didn't lend itself to before and afters.
Here we go! But beware, a lot of this makes me look like a hoarder.
Like I said last time, I went ahead and collected some of the trash I had uncovered. There were some old electronic parts I had picked up from Unholy Krondor knows where for use in terrain making. I Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-998094140795687094.post-21911248023716514132012-07-22T23:02:00.001-04:002012-07-22T23:03:10.557-04:00Moving the Hobby Cave - Update #6The Eldar tub filled in nicely, so there's the last little bit of my actual gaming stuff done.
I even got another whole box full. There's a certain eclectic feel about the contests of this one, but I figure I have to open 'em all at some point anyways, so point unduly stressing about logical packing patterns.
Unfortunately, I got a little sidetracked with filling said boxUnknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-998094140795687094.post-37789070194494820892012-07-22T22:12:00.001-04:002012-07-22T22:12:17.188-04:00Moving the Hobby Cave - Update #5So my short break yesterday turned into nap, Minecraft, dinner and then a movie. I'm back for another bit of packing right now. Nothing too schmancy tonight.
First, I've got a bunch of gaming stuff left to pacl:
And some loose space in my tub o' Eldar.
I think I can get a bird and half here. Maybe two. Still got plenty of bits and my air Kompressor left to Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-998094140795687094.post-20821033527584905842012-07-21T14:34:00.003-04:002012-07-21T14:34:56.517-04:00Moving the Hobby Cave - Update #4Ok, an hour and a half on the bits packing. Not as bad as it could have been.
Most of the work was spent on repacking things since the black boxes I was storing them in were just a bit too space inefficient to just stick in a moving box.
A bunch of Special Lady Friend's old shoes boxes came in handy.
In some cases I didn't bother with much repacking. Organizing some Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-998094140795687094.post-78941543598615086882012-07-21T13:02:00.002-04:002012-07-21T13:02:37.526-04:00Moving the Hobby Cave - Update #3I'm back it today and my plan to start with my bits boxes even managed to survive contact with breakfast.
Not too big an update right now, because I'll I've done to this point is collect all the stuff for next phase.
This is near enough to everything that it makes no difference, though I am 1000% sure I'll find more as I dig further into the hobby cave.
Good: not as many boxes as I'd Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-998094140795687094.post-24090908880666439962012-07-21T00:00:00.000-04:002012-07-21T00:00:32.507-04:00Moving the Hobby Cave - Update #2Things are taking a whole hell of a lot longer than I want them to.
An hour and a half later and I'm just now finished boxing up the stuff I pulled out for update 1 + a few things I missed.
Here's what I got so far:
Progress! Based on how long this relatively easy leg took it looks like starting early on this project was the way to go.
Here's a shot of the room as a kind of benchUnknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-998094140795687094.post-29878285614556767022012-07-20T22:38:00.001-04:002012-07-20T22:38:16.384-04:00Moving the Hobby Cave - Update #1Ok, so I have a bunch of stuff that's still in boxes - at least because it's new or because I organized it that way. So that's where I decided to start. First I need to collect as much of it as I can find.
As most hobbyists would expect, the biggest part of this pile is stuff that is for all purposes new. Yet somehow I'm not a hoarder.
I've also got pretty close to the Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-998094140795687094.post-35673830312010497212012-07-20T21:52:00.000-04:002012-07-20T21:52:09.843-04:00Moving the Hobby Cave - Semi-live Blogging Starts NOWWell how-dee-do dear readers! I'm long over dude for a Legion of Everblight progress report. So here it is:
It's all on hold for a while.
See, I got a job offer just three days after the last LoE report and, since accepting the job involved getting ready to move 1000 miles (not an exaggeration), my hobby time has been pretty slim. Not because I haven't had the time, mind Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-998094140795687094.post-87753804253336511442012-07-03T18:16:00.000-04:002012-07-03T22:41:07.604-04:00Legion of Everblight - Progress Report #2Well hello there! Sorry for the radio silence of late, but shortly after I wrote the last LoE progress report, a job interview cropped up and I am currently waiting to see how much, if any, my life is about to change. Plus, the Skyrim train finally pulled into my station. It's certainly not 'Skyrim Widow' bad, but between that, gaming, painting and a general sense of anxiety Unknownnoreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-998094140795687094.post-85351516945645949152012-06-11T18:51:00.002-04:002012-06-11T18:51:44.006-04:00Legion of Everblight - Progress Report #1Last time around I dipped my toes into the shallow end of a much larger conversation - that being that I have started up HoMachine again. Since then, I've managed to get a few more games in and I now have more than enough experience to draw any number of serious and ground breaking conclusions about how the MkII rules function as a game. I will also be proclaiming myself a master of Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-998094140795687094.post-59041929117342709822012-06-05T18:56:00.000-04:002012-06-05T18:56:48.108-04:006th Edition, Hobby Weltschmerz and New BeginningsIn recent months, I had been back in a 40k mindset again.
